Paradoria 2 Enchanted Realm is 2019 American 3D computer animated fantasy musical comedy adventure film produced by Universal Animation. It is sequel to 2015 film Paradoria, it was directed by Steve Samono from screenplay by Samono, Laurie Craig, Jonathan Aibel, And Glenn Berger, and will star reprised voices of Finn Wolfhard, AnnaSophia Robb, Bryan Cranston, Jenny Slate, with Maya Rudolph, and Patrick Stewart, join by Zoe Saldana, Paul Giamatti, with Tom Cruise, and Madelaine Petsch.
Plans for sequel began in 2015 and were announced to be in works in 2016 follow critical and commercial success of 1 film. Samono, who directed 1 film, agreed to return to direct 2 film on condition that he would be allowed to turn it into saga. New installment went through 3 different scripts before filmmakers settled on final plot, while Samono also wanted to include some unused ideas from 1 film. In 2016, much of original cast confirmed they had signed on, with new cast members added in 2018. Film is dedicated to animator Jacques Muller, who died on November 4, 2018.
Paradoria 2 premiered in France on April 10, 2019, and was released in the United States on April 26, 2019, by Universal Pictures. Film received universally positive reviews from critics, who commended humor, characters, screenplay, animation, and performances, although some were mixed on film for play it safe and said it was not as fresh as 1 film. Film made $227.9 million in open week, set record for best debut for animated film, and grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide over $200 million budget, making it highest grossing animated film of all time, Universal Pictures highest grossing film of all time, 2 highest grossing film of 2019, 4 highest grossing film of all time in US and Canada, 6 highest grossing film of all time worldwide, Universal Animation highest grossing film of all time, and their 4 to gross $1 billion after Paradoria, Imagimals, and Deep Web. At 92 Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best Animated Feature losing to Toy Story 4 and Best Original Song for Cutest Dreams.
Premise[]
Jamo and Princess Keena are living peacefully together in their Home. However, they encounter mysterious Conqueror who intends to overthrow Paradorian kingdom by placing spell that poisons King Clint, allow Conqueror to take over his place as king of Paradoria. Now, 2 must find way to stop Conqueror, and find potion to heal Clint before it is too late.

In 2015, Universal Animation Studios announced sequel to Paradoria, with director Steve Samono, producers Amy McNeill and Daniel Ross, and writer Laurie Craig return. In 2015, Samono confirmed that script was being written. In 2015, it was report that Kung Fu Panda Series co writers Jonathan Aibel And Glenn Berger had been hired to rewrite script.
In 2018, Universal officially announced film title Enchanted Realm along with it new release of April 26, 2019, as well as 1 teaser poster.

Casting[]
In 2015, it was reported that Finn Wolfhard was willing to reprise his role as Jamo in sequel. It was also reported that AnnaSophia Robb might return to reprise her role as Keena but had not decided yet. In 2015, it had been confirmed that Wolfhard and Robb would reprise their respective roles as Jamo and Keena in sequel. In 2016, Bryan Cranston, Jenny Slate, with Maya Rudolph and Patrick Stewart were confirmed to reprise their roles.
In 2017, it was announced that Zoe Saldana has join cast to voice brand new character in sequel. Follow month, Paul Giamatti was cast to voice villain in film. In 2018, it was announced that Madelaine Petsch join cast. Later that week, Tom Cruise announced that he will be making his 1 animation debut in sequel.

In 2018, Alan Menken was revealed to be returning for sequel score, while he, Cinco Paul, and Marc Shaiman would also return to write new songs for sequel. During 2019 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June, it was revealed that there will be 6 new songs, including Cutest Dreams for Keena and Jamo. Complete track list was revealed on September 30, along with announcement of pre order, soundtrack was release by Back Lot Music on November 1.

Paradoria 2 held world premiere at Los Angeles on October 10, 2019, and was widely release in US on November 8, 2019, by Universal Pictures. It was originally set for December 14, 2018, but was pushed back to December 13, 2019, then November 8, 2019, and later November 1, 2019, before finally moving back to current date. Film was release in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D.
On September 28, 2019, Universal announced it would hold 1 day advanced previews for film in 500 theatres in US and were held 2 days later.
On September 3, 2020, it was announced that sing along re issue will be release in theaters for limited time only starting on September 4.
Enchanted Realm is set to be release in US on April 26, 2019, in 3D, Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX by Universal Pictures. Originally scheduled for release on March 1, 2019, date was postponing multiple times. Film was push back to May 31, then to August 16, August 2, April 5, and 1 final time to April 26. Film will be release in select international markets including UK, France, and German 2 weeks ahead of NA release starting with France on April 10 in order to avoid box office competition with Endgame

It received 122.9 million views in 1 24 hours, becoming most viewed trailer for animated film, dethroning Incredibles 2 113.6 million views as 7 most viewed trailer overall, as well as surpassing 1 week old record of Frozen 2 116.4 million views. Interview with cast was release on February 24, 2019, which revealed 2 undisclosed characters names voice by Zoe Saldana and Madelaine Petsch. 2 trailer and official trailer of film was release on May 29, 2019. 3 and final trailer was release on September 25, 2019. Exclusive 5 minutes preview was release on October 17, 2019, and was attached to IMAX screenings of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Universal partnered with more than 100 licensing and promotional partners to market film including Mattel, Sprint Corporation, Xfinity, McFarlane Toys, McDonald's, and Ziploc. On November 18, 2019, after 15 days in release, film surpassed Deep Web $472.3 million lifeline domestic total to become Universal Animation highest grossing film of all time. It is highest grossing musical film of all time, 2 highest grossing film by Universal Pictures, highest grossing film of Samono career, 2 highest grossing film of 2019, and 8 highest grossing film of all time. It had worldwide open of $263.2 million, 2 biggest global open of all time for animated film. Deadline Hollywood calculated net profit of film to be $706 million, accounting for production budgets, PA, talent participations and other costs, with box office grosses and ancillary revenues from home media, placing it 2 on their list of 2019 Most Valuable Blockbusters and most profitable Universal Pictures film of all time.
On November 23, 2019, film surpassed $1 billion making it 3 Universal Animation film to gross $1 billion worldwide, and 3 animated film of 2019 to gross $1 billion. Beginning on October 4, 2019, in 1 24 hours, Paradoria 2 became the 2 best of 2019 on Fandango in that frame behind Endgame, while Atom Tickets reported it was their best ever 1 day sales for family film. 3 week prior to release, industry tracking projected film would gross $160 175 million in domestic open week, although some insiders saw those figures as conservative and expected $170 185 million debuts. However, Comscore senior media Paul Dergarabedian thought film would open closer to $120 million due to recent underperformance of other animated sequels. By week of release, estimates had film debut to as much as $190 million from 4,578 theatres, widest for both Universal film and Disney animated film. After it made $89.1 million on open day including $27.7 million from Thursday night previews, biggest of all time for November release and animated film, week estimates were raised to as high as $210 million. It went on to make $227.9 million in open week, biggest open of all time for animated film, November release, and 4 biggest open of all time. It made $29.1 million on Veterans Day, which was film 1 Monday, biggest Monday of all time for animated film. Film remained in 1 in 2 week while grossing $85.7 million, best sophomore frame for Universal Animation film and animated film.
By November 17, 2019, film surpassed original film $411.1 million lifeline total. Film surpassed $500 million on 16 day of release, making it 3 animated film to do so and fastest 1 to reach that mark. In 3 week, it dropped down to 2 behind newcomer Frozen 2, while grossing $56.9 million. In 4 week, it made $71.4 million over 5 day Thanksgiving week $52.2 million in 3 day week in 3 behind Ico and Frozen 2, 1 time 3 animated films dominated top 3.
On December 1, film grossed $600 million making it 2 animated film to reach that mark as well as fastest to do so and next day it surpassed Incredibles 2 $608.7 million to become highest grossing animated film of all time domestically. It remained in 3 in 5 week while grossing $20.8 million. On December 14, film surpassed Jurassic World $652.2 million to become Universal highest grossing film domestically and also grossed $12.2 million in 6 week while dropping to 4. By December 25, 2019, film had earned $671.2 million, surpassing $670 million projected amount for total domestic gross. Film continued to stay in top 10 until it fell out of it by 10 week.

Paradoria 2 was projected to gross around $250 million worldwide by end of 1 week of release, and about $350 million over 1 10 days. It end up slightly over performing in UK week before American release, grossing $35.3 million in open week. Paradoria 2 end up grossing $460.8 million worldwide over 1 10 days of release, including $232.8 million from international territories in open week. Film also outperformed open week for all films that Universal release in all markets. Mexico was largest debut with $21.3 million, follow by Australia $17.7 million and Russia $15.4 million both having biggest open of all time for animated film. In 2 week, it open as top film in Italy, Malaysia, and Singapore while also making additional $203.1 million worldwide and $94.3 million in 3. By this point, industry analysts expected Paradoria 2 to become highest grossing animated film of all time, with some suggesting that it could finish run with over $1.6 billion which ended up happening by December.
It had biggest open for animated film in Brazil $19.2 million, Netherlands $12.5 million, Australia $24.7 million, Philippines $4.9 million, Singapore $2.3 million, India $4 million, Indonesia, Peru and Central America, and in Russia, it open with $19.4 million, Mexico $11.4 million and Argentina $5.5 million. In Brazil, in addition to record biggest Universal Animation open ever, almost twice previous record held by Deep Web, it also set new record for all time animated open. In South Korea, it had biggest open for Universal Animation film with $7.1 million. In Japan, film had 2 day week open of $12 million on Saturday and Sunday from 511 screens on 571,000 admissions. This made it top western release of week and biggest foreign open week in country so far of this year, It had further number 1 open in Spain $4.9 million, France $4.7 million, Hong Kong $1.9 million, $2.8 million including previews, and Taiwan $1.9 million. It top box office in Netherlands for 3 and in Spain and Australia for 4 consecutive week. In China, it was projected that film will gross $40 million in open week. It ultimately open on Friday, December 6 and earn $28 million on open day, marking 2 biggest open day for animated film ever in China. Film end up overperforming in China, grossing $68.4 million in open week marking biggest open week of all time for animated film there at time before being overtaken by Ico open week. In 2020, film was granted extension release until January 31, 2020, as film overperformed initial total gross of $120 million.
As of January 1, 2019, highest grossing markets are China $303.2 million, UK $151.2 million, Japan $85.9 million, Brazil $47.8 million, and France $32.5 million.
Critical Reception[]
On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, film holds approval rating of 100% based on 350 reviews, with average rating of 7.4/10. Website critical consensus states, Paradoria 2 may not live up to mountain traveling funny voyage of 2015 predecessor, but heartfelt moments, colorful atmosphere, and iconic couple should nonetheless outweigh flaws. On Metacritic, which assigns normalized rating to reviews, film has weighted average score of 100 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating generally favorable reviews. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave film average grade of A on A to F scale, down from 1 film A.
Peter Debruge of Variety call film very cute and remarkable, also writing If you loved original film, your kids would appreciate having more fun to Keena and Jamo experience on their riveting, silly, and fascinating fantasy adventure. Richard Roeper of Chicago Sun Times praised lightweight tone as treat and breath follow dark and dramatic tones of Deep Web. He also praised cast, especially Holland and Saldana, as well as visual effects and perfect usage of action sequences in film.
On negative side, Alonso Duralde of Wrap said film Whole movie seems to be on fast forward, with crushingly brainless dialogue, hollow and scary images and no way of slow down febrile action or making sense of chaotic plot. Hollywood Reporter called film loud, lazy, long, laugh starved cash grab sequel that was pointless. Barbara VanDenburgh of Arizona Republic said, Pop culture jokes ricochet off heads of younger viewers to tickle world weary adults in audience, with just enough sentimental goo applied at end to unite generations. Parents will dab their eyes while kids roll theirs. Betsy Bozdech of Common Sense Media gave movie 4 stars. She said, Script is witty, satire and music surprisingly pointed, and animation tactile and imaginative.

In 2019, in interview with CNN, Samono hinted that 3 film would be possible, say, we would like to show more stories featuring these unique and special characters, but you may have to wait bit for it to happen as we are far from finish with these characters. In 2020, due to overperformance of film box office worldwide, it was announced that sequel is in development with Samono stating that it be best installment of series and possibly final 1. In 2020, Samono announced he will not direct film. In 2020, it was announced it be 2 parts with 2 sequels being produced and animated back to back.
