Gabriel Garza And Quest For Gold is an platform video game developed by Realtime Associates and published by Acclaim Entertainment. Released for SNES and Sega Genesis on September 13, 1994 in North America and on December 6, 1994 in Europe and Japan. Ports were also released for Game Gear, Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, Sega CD and PC in 1995.

Gameplay[]

Quest For Gold is platform game in which play controls Gabriel and must progress through 5 levels representing Gabriel home, Sinking Spring.

Play must navigate through various climate zones including tundra, swamps, and grasslands in order to retrieve gold bars. Collect 100 time clocks allow play to receive additional life. Enemies in game include bats, skunks, weasels, ghosts, and other assorted baddies.

Play can also ride on mine carts and car.

Plot[]

Gabriel Garza, RogeLeno, and Cole have to save Sinking Spring from Vio who has stolen funds needed to keep town operating.

Development[]

Originally, Quest For Gold was plan to be released to coincide. However, this idea was soon scrapped in favor of more compelling concept of Gabriel saving Sinking Spring from Vio.

Success of Quest For Gold led to development of Sequel which would later be canceled so that they could instead focus on developing game based on film Ama And Mysterious Crystal.

Reception[]

Reviewing SNES version, Gamepro commented that Quest For Gold is too easy and simplistic to appeal to experienced game, but that it pleasant atmosphere and lush graphics would make it enjoy for novice play. Similarly, Electronic Gaming Monthly praised graphics, sound effects, criticized simplistic gameplay, and concluded that kids and adults will probably take to this game faster than older play will. They gave game 100 out of 100.
